Ohio born designer MICHAEL McCOLLOM began his career in New York as design director of the ISAIA NYC collection.
In 1990, Vogue named him one of their "Designers to Watch". With that his cutting edge designs skyrocketed to the fore and into every major specialty store in the US and Japan.
MICHAEL McCOLLOM started his eponymous brand in 1992 which would extend his design reach to include menswear and fur.
In 1997, MICHAEL McCOLLOM was one of a handful of designers selected to study at Saga Furs Design Centre in Denmark, the world's creative laboratory for developing new ideas in fur.
In 2000, STANLEY BLUM ( Fifth-generation furrier, Founder/CEO of TRILOGY ) selected MICHAEL McCOLLOM as Creative/Design Director for TRILOGY. The two combined their talents to reintroduce the TRILOGY COLLECTIONS brand. Their complementary vision has helped redefine the use and direction of fur on the landscape of fashion.
McCOLLOM was appointed Creative/Design Director of FLEURETTE in 2003. With FLEURETTE, MICHAEL McCOLLOM's aesthetic was challenged to reinvigorate the fifty year old coat brand. Today FLEURETTE stands as the leading luxury outerwear manufacturer made in the USA.
MICHAEL McCOLLOM's first book THE WAY WE WORE (Glitterati Incorporated) published in 2006, Is a unique photo study exploring the triumphs and faux pas of African American personal style. That same year, he conceived and co-curated the ground-breaking fashion exhibition "BLACK STYLE NOW" for the Museum of the City of New York.
